To find out more about dry cleaning they visited Hillyer Cleaners, a dry cleaner and tailoring shop in the Hubbell neighborhood. Carey Dunley's second-grade class took a trip to La Mie Bakery. They were making a real-life connection to a story they read in a new reading series called "Jalape�o Bagels." Hubbell second-grader Ava Logsdon's parents own La Mie. The second-grade students made cinnamon rolls, which they got to eat, and pizza dough with Joe Logsdon. They also got a quick tour of the kitchen ovens, the mixing machines and the walk-in refrigerator. King Seven fifth-graders were inducted into the NAACP's Youth Council elementary unit at a banquet Feb. 16. Through their involvement with this council, they will be learning more about the organization as well as leadership.
